Situated off Whitehall, within a few minutes walk from the Houses of Parliament, Downing Street was built in the 1680s, by Sir George Downing
The renowned architect Sir Christopher Wren was employed to design the houses. And by 1684, a cul-de-sac of 15 to 20 terraced houses was built, now called Downing Street.
